Tucked away on the serene Queen Square in Bloomsbury, The Queen’s Larder is a delightful slice of London history wrapped in cosy charm. This Grade II-listed pub, dating back to 1710, owes its regal name to Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III. Legend has it that during the king’s treatment for mental illness at a nearby physician’s house, Queen Charlotte rented a cellar beneath the pub to store special foods for her husband.
The menu is a hearty homage to British comfort food. Think spam fritters with chips and beans, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, and the classic Stilton ploughman’s . Wash it down with a selection of real ales, including Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, Fuller’s London Pride, and Dark Star Hophead . The pub’s commitment to quality beer has earned it a spot in Timothy Taylor’s Champion Club.
