About Himley House

Located in the quaint Staffordshire village of Himley, The Himley House forms part of the Himley Hall Estate, which used to be the residence of the Lords of Dudley. This charming Georgian pub restaurant exudes the elegance of a grand country mansion. It was transformed into a pub restaurant and hotel during the early 20th century, maintaining its historical charm with high wooden beams, real fires, and candlelit dinners. The building, a former lodge house for Himley Hall, is a grand Grade II listed structure set amidst sprawling grounds that border a lake, with picturesque surroundings landscaped by Lancelot Capability Brown.

Visitors exploring Himley Park Estate, West Midland Safari Park, or Dudley Zoological Gardens, a dog-friendly zoo situated around an 11th Century castle, can unwind at Himley House. The establishment is an ideal spot for refuelling, especially with its delectable Sunday lunches served all day, offering a relaxed dining experience without the constraints of a strict timetable.

Himley House is located in Himley, Staffordshire, near Dudley and Wolverhampton. Once a part of the Himley Hall Estate, this pub boasts a rich history. Himley Hall, a Grade II listed building, was originally a moated manor house that served as a secondary residence for the Earls of Dudley for over four centuries. In the 18th century, John Ward demolished the medieval manor to make way for the current Himley Hall. Himley village was relocated during this period, and the church was reconstructed in 1764. Following John Ward’s death in 1774, his son, John Junior, enlisted the services of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown to redesign the parkland surrounding Himley Hall, adding to the estate’s allure and grandeur.
