About Greswolde Arms

Located on a charming High Street in the historic village of Knowle, The Greswolde Arms is a well-loved pub and restaurant. Originally serving as a coaching inn dating back to the 17th century, this establishment has a rich history of hosting shooting parties for nobility and gentry. Notable guests include Lady Byron, the spouse of acclaimed poet Lord Byron, and even The Beatles during their 1963 tour in the area. With a delightful beer garden for sunnier days and inviting log fires and comfortable sofas for colder weather, The Greswolde Arms offers a welcoming and cosy atmosphere throughout the year.

The menu features a wide selection of freshly prepared pub food, including the ever-popular Sunday roasts with various meat options and a delicious vegetarian alternative. Guests can complement their meal with a choice of real ales, quality wines, or refreshing soft drinks. Situated just 6 miles from the Birmingham NEC and the LG Arena, this traditional country pub is conveniently located near Birmingham and Solihull, making it an ideal spot for a hearty meal before attending an event or meeting.

For over two centuries, The Greswolde Arms has been an integral part of Knowle village life. Originally named ‘The Mermaid Inn,’ it came into the possession of the affluent Greswolde family of Malvern Hall in the early 1700s and remained under their ownership for generations. The transition to The Greswolde Arms occurred under the supervision of Henry Greswolde Lewis. While the oldest section of the establishment appears to have been timber-framed with steep gables, extensive renovations and extensions were carried out throughout the 18th and 19th centuries to cater to the growing coaching trade.

The Greswolde Arms is a dog-friendly establishment that warmly welcomes visitors to experience its historic charm, delicious cuisine, and inviting ambiance.
