Owd Betts invites you to embark on a journey through the rich history of our pub and restaurant, established in 1796.
Many people who have visited over the years have called out the delicious food, great service and the dog friendly area which is nestled by an open roaring fire.
Nestled on the outskirts of Norden, Rochdale, “Owd Betts” is a landmark 19th-century pub with roots stretching back to 1796. Originally named the Hare and Hounds, it was built by Richard and Mary Ashworth and later passed to their son John and his wife, Betty. When John died in 1869, Betty, affectionately known as ‘Owd Bett,’ took the helm, and the pub was informally named after her.
This legacy was officially recognized in the 1950s when the pub was renamed “Owd Betts” in her honor.
