Your guide to taking your dog on your Summer Holiday adventures

Summer holidays are the best, aren’t they? Sun, sea, sand… and your furry friend by your side. If you’re anything like us, leaving your dog behind isn’t an option. Luckily, more and more places are opening their doors to four-legged visitors.

At TailBlazr, we’re thrilled to now be showcasing dog friendly accommodation so you can plan getaways easier than ever before. We have some fantastic dog-friendly spots that will make your summer getaway paw-some, which you can discover here.

Here’s our guide to making your holiday with your dog as smooth and fun as possible.

Packing for Your Pooch

Before we dive into some of the places you can stay, let’s talk about packing. Here’s a quick checklist to ensure your dog has everything they need:

  • Food and Water Bowls: Collapsible ones are great for travel.
  • Food and Treats: Don’t forget their favourites!
  • Leash and Harness: A spare can’t hurt.
  • Dog Bed: Familiar smells help them settle.
  • Toys: Keep them entertained.
  • Poo Bags: Essential.
  • Grooming Kit: A brush and some wipes go a long way.
  • Medical Supplies: Any medication they need and a basic first aid kit.

Finding the Best Dog Friendly Accommodation

  1. Check Amenities: Look for places with enclosed gardens, nearby parks, and dog-friendly beaches.
  2. Read Reviews: Other pet owners’ experiences can give you valuable insights.
  3. Ask Questions: Don’t be shy to contact the accommodation and ask about the specifics of their pet policy.

Our website has a fantastic search tool that makes finding dog-friendly accommodation a breeze. Pop in your destination and let us do the legwork!

We highlight “Pooch Perks” to show what truly makes the place dog friendly, the cost per dog (if any), and any limitations such as a maximum number of dogs – just incase you are bringing several furry friends on your adventure!

If you have discovered somewhere new that we don’t have, we invite you to share it with our community for dog parents!

Tips for a Stress-Free Trip

Travelling with your dog can be a breeze with a bit of preparation. Here are some handy tips:

  • Plan Your Stops: If you’re driving, plan breaks for your dog to stretch their legs, have a drink and go to the toilet!
  • Check the Rules: Some beaches and parks have restrictions, so do a bit of research before you go or keep an eye out for nearby signage.
  • Keep Them Cool: Make sure your dog stays hydrated and doesn’t overheat. A portable water bowl and a cooling mat are great for this. We have some great tips here too.
  • ID Tags: Ensure your dog’s ID tag is up to date with your mobile number and microchip details are up-to-date, just incase something happens!

Enjoy the Adventure!

Taking your dog on holiday can be an amazing experience for both of you. With the right preparation and some fantastic dog-friendly accommodation, you’re all set for a memorable summer adventure.
