The Tabard Inn, crafted by Norman Shaw, stood as a significant meeting point for the exchange of artistic and political ideologies. Boasting original ornamental features by William de Morgan and Walter Crane, The Tabard could be considered one of the first upgraded taverns, hosting musical performances and intellectual discussions. In 1985, a ‘new writing’ theatre was introduced, serving as a tribute to the area’s rich creative legacy. Today, this historic location remains a vibrant hub of cultural activity, offering a dog-friendly environment that welcomes visitors to explore its artistic and literary roots.
