Situated near Edinburgh University in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, Doctors boasts strong connections with both Edinburgh University Medical College and the former Royal Infirmary located opposite. The establishment was constructed to commemorate the inauguration of the hospital back in 1874, and remnants from that era are scattered throughout the pub, offering a somewhat eerie glimpse into its role in Edinburgh’s gothic past. Interestingly, the building also once accommodated a cabinet and coffin maker for the adjacent mortuary.
