Dating back to the early 1800s, The Ethorpe Hotel was previously the opulent residence of an Edwardian gentleman before its conversion into a hotel in 1923 upon the sale of the Ethorpe Estate. With a grand two-storey structure featuring an impressive portico entrance, the hotel’s stuccoed villa exterior and pristine white walls harken back to its early 19th-century origins and the refined affluence characterizing Gerrards Cross. The hotel underwent thoughtful alterations and expansions in the Arts & Crafts style by architect Robert Muir during the 1920s, embodying the Edwardian development of Gerrards Cross following the establishment of the rail connection to London in 1906.
